BOULDER - Zayo Group LLC, an international provider of bandwidth infrastructure services, and the National Basketball Association (NBA) announced they have teamed up to transport live broadcast and video feeds for all NBA games beginning with the 2014-2015 season.
The NBA's enhanced broadcast video system will provide managed video transport services for all 29 NBA team arenas, carrying multiple high-definition live streams from each arena to the NBA league office in Secaucus, N.J.
"NBA's collaboration with Zayo demonstrates the role of fiber networks in enabling services offered by media and content companies," said Dan Caruso, Zayo CEO and chairman.
"Our fiber network will directly reach most of the NBA arenas, enabling the league to offer new services and capabilities."
"Zayo's agility and expertise provides the NBA with more access to live broadcast and video feeds than ever before," said Michael Gliedman, NBA's CIO.
"This innovative fiber optic network will further enhance the experience for the league, our teams, and most importantly, our fans."
In addition to providing the underlying fiber infrastructure, the network will utilize 100G wavelength transport and managed video network equipment to deliver HD video content.
Based in Boulder, Zayo Group provides bandwidth infrastructure services in more than 295 markets throughout the U.S. and Europe.
