LOVELAND -- Aleph Objects, makers of the LulzBot line of 3D printers, announced a partnership with Washington-based Protoplant  to offer the Proto-pasta line of premium specialty filaments for use on LulzBot printers.Aleph_Objects_logoUSE_1

The new filaments are available for purchase on the LulzBot website and include:

  • Conductive PLA – Electrically conductive, good for low-voltage applications
  • Stainless Steel PLA – 93 percent denser than common PLA and can be polished to a shine
  • Magnetic Iron PLA – Attracts magnetic fields and can be aged in appearance
  • PC-ABS -- Polycarbonate blend makes it stronger than ABS and more wear-resistant

All four of the materials can be printed on the standard tool head that ships with every LulzBot 3D printer and require no upgrades or separate purchases.

All four materials are also available in an open format, with no cartridges or electronic chips to restrict the user, Aleph Objects said.
