GREELEY - Ryan Speir, who has served as director of the UNC BizHub business incubator at the University of Northern Colorado's Monfort College of Business for the last eight months, has stepped down from that post, citing personal and family-related reasons.

Speir's parents unexpectedly passed away earlier this year.

Speir previously served as chief operating officer and interim CEO during a six-year period at the Innosphere, a Fort Collins-based startup incubator.

Speir has more than 20 years of experience in sales, marketing and funding for startups and growing companies and is a member of InnovatioNews' advisory board.

Nate Haas, spokesman for UNC, said the university is working on a reorganization plan for BizHub.

"We are in the process of reorganizing UNC BizHub," Haas said. "Our plans include projects under development that support our community and clients. We are committed to growing BizHub consistent with our mission of supporting business and entrepreneurship in Northern Colorado. We appreciate the contribution Ryan Speir has made over the last year and wish him well in his future endeavors."

Located at 807 17th St., BizHub opened last October and is a program of UNC with support from the Monfort College of Business, the region's cities and counties, local chambers and economic development organizations.

The incubator helps businesses grow with coaching, capital access direction and business design workshops.
