Accelerate Colorado speakers announced for Oct. 1-3 innovation event

LOVELAND - The City of Loveland announced four key speakers for its inaugural innovation symposium and showcase event set for Oct. 1-3.

The event, "Accelerate Colorado: Advancing Colorado's Innovation Ecosystem," will be held at the Rocky Mountain Center for Innovation and Technology, 815 14th St. SW.

The keynote lineup includes:

  • Steven Schussler, author and creator of Rainforest Café. Schussler will present "Innovation Takes Time--Why R&D is So Important for Bringing a Successful Concept, Service or Product to Market."

  • Michael Burcham, CEO of the Nashville Entrepreneur Center, presenting "Fusing Training, Relationships and Resources to Cultivate Economic development and the Entrepreneurial Climate.

  • Deborah Clayton, past director of Technology Development for Argonne National Labs and current CEO of iBridge presenting "Partnerships, Programs and Persistence--Fostering Statewide Innovation and Commercialization."

  • Brad Black, CEO and founder of HumaneX, presenting "Redefining the Values and Capabilities of Human Capital and Workforce Culture."


Breakout sessions will address issues including grant programs, workforce and changing needs of business, open source and open innovation, Colorado funding sources and government purchasing programs, collaboration, public/private partnerships about innovation and invention.

Participating companies and organizations include Lockheed Martin, NASA, Aleph Objects, SparkFun, Rockies Venture Club, HumaneX, Edison Welding Institute, Southwest Research Institute, XMS Capital Partners, Access Venture Partners, Colorado Angel Network, Denver U.S. Patent Office, Idaho National Labs and iBridge.

The free event is designed for companies, entrepreneurs, engineers, educational institutions and students, government agencies and nonprofit organizations specializing in innovation, technology advancement and manufacturing.

The two-day event begins Oct. 1 with an opening reception from 4-7 p.m. featuring a business showcase.

The second day, Oct. 2, begins at 8 a.m. and continues till 3:30 p.m. The final day, Oct. 3, begins at 8 a.m. and concludes at 1 p.m.
