DENVER - Denver Startup Week in September achieved the highest level of participation in its three-year existence, according to a report by DSW organizers.

More than 7,800 startup community members engaged in more than 180 events during the five-day event, which included more than 700 companies involved in events, seminars and panels.

Plans are already underway for the next DSW, which is set to take place Sept. 28-Oct. 2, 2015.

"Denver has quickly become the 'Startup Capital of the World,'" said Denver Mayor Michael Hancock. "Places like Galvanize, INDUSTRY and others have really created this space, along with all of you, and that says Denver is simply the place to be.

"If you are entrepreneurial, if you are innovative, we want you to bring your humble and creative energies to our great city," Hancock said at the 2014 DSW kickoff breakfast.

The event is organized by the Downtown Denver Partnership, Colorado Technology Association and local entrepreneurs as a platform to convene and connect existing and future startups to cultivate and grow in the Denver entrepreneurial community.

The 2014 DSW Basecamp - hosted by Chase -- was the hub of the event, this year hosting more than 6,000 - a 200 percent increase over 2013.

"When we started Denver Startup Week, we wanted the event to be a celebration of everything entrepreneurial in Denver," said Erik Mitisek, CEO of Colorado Technology Association and co-chair of the event.

"This year, the program was even broader, more inclusive and showcased even more of the best of entrepreneurship in the city. As we look forward, we hope this community-led event will spark interest of even more entrepreneurs to be involved and will help establish Denver as THE startup hub between the coasts."
