BOULDER - Gnip, a Boulder-based social media company, was acquired by San Francisco-based Twitter for $131.4 million, according to an SEC filing on Aug. 11 and media reports.
Twitter acquired Gnip in April but the purchase price was not revealed until this week.
While Gnip has made no official announcement of the purchase price, Chris Moody, company CEO, said in April that the acquisition by one of the world's biggest social media companies will be good for Gnip.
"This acquisition signals clear recognition that investments in social data are healthier than ever," Moody said in a company blog on April 15.
"Our customers can continue to build and innovate on one of the world's largest and most trusted providers of social data and the foundation for innovation is now even stronger."
Gnip and Twitter have been longtime partners in providing social media data to businesses.
