Cochlear said its third-generation signal processing platform automatically adapts to different sound environments to deliver a more comfortable listening experience and the opportunity receive the best possible hearing performance in noisy situations.
The addition of SmartSound iQ to the Nucleus 6 Sound Processor coincides with the availability of true 2.4 GHz wireless connectivity, a first in the cochlear implant industry, the company said.
"We are pleased to introduce SmartSound iQ and 2.4 GHz wireless connectivity to the Nucleus 6 Sound processor, as they help provide a better user experience," said Chris Smith, Cochelar Americas president.
"Not only does SmartSound iQ make listening easier by automatically adjusting to new sound environments, but the majority of users reported an improvement in hearing in noise."
Cochlear said SmartSound iQ is approved in the U.S. for use with the Nucleus Hybrid L24 implant.
