Zayo Group acquires Kansas-based IdeaTek Systems, adds new route between Omaha and Dallas

BOULDER - Zayo Group LLC, a subsidiary of Zayo Group Holdings Inc. (NYSE: ZAYO), announced it has signed an agreement to acquire the carrier and enterprise segment of Buhler, Kan.-based IdeaTek Systems Inc.

IdeaTek will retain its residential and small commercial divisions and continue to operate under the name IdeaTek Telecom LLC.

The transaction will be funded with cash on hand and is anticipated to close in early 2015. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

The acquisition will add 1,800 route miles to Zayo's network in Kansas and includes a dense metro footprint in Wichita.

Zayo also recently announced a new intercity dark fiber route between Omaha and Dallas. The new 1,000-mile route will connect areas of Nebraska, Kansas, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas.
