Zayo Group logoBOULDER - Zayo Group is expanding its fiber network in the San Diego market by more than 5,000 miles, the company announced.

The expansion will provide additional capacity on existing routes and extend the metro network to include Oceanside, Encinitas, Del Mar and Escondido, providing access to carrier, health care, technology, energy and government locations.

"Our expanded San Diego coverage will enable us to meet the growing demand for bandwidth infrastructure across a range of customers," said Brett Palmer, Zayo's VP of its Dark Fiber Product Group.

"San Diego joins our other key metro markets in California with deep fiber networks including San Francisco, Los Angeles and Sacramento."

As part of the project, Zayo said San Diego will have access to its international long-haul network for transport, IP and colocation services.

Zayo's fiber network now spans 74,300 route miles, providing connectivity to 283 markets throughout the U.S. and Western Europe.
