FORT COLLINS - VanDyne SuperTurbo Inc. has received Frost & Sullivan's 2012 North American New Product Innovation Award in the Automotive Powertrain Market, the company announced.

"The most innovative factor of the VanDyne SuperTurbo is that it mechanically controls the speed ratio between the engine and the turbine or the compressor wheels," said a Frost & Sullivan analyst.

"VanDyne has developed a proprietary high-speed drive system that provides efficient and reliable torque transfer on and off high-speed rotating parts. When combined with the continuously variable transmission, the engine management system can develop or generate the desired boost pressures at any engine speed."

VanDyne also announced that Northwater Capital's Intellectual Property Fund has increased its funding commitment to the company from $8 million to $10 million in a Series C round.

The company said it is still seeking another $5 million to complete the round. Proceeds from the financing will speed up the commercialization of the Heavy Duty SuperTubo for On-Highway Trucks and construction equipment.

"Thanks to Northwater, we will continue to invest significantly in the development and commercialization of the SuperTurbo in the next two years," said Ed VanDyne, company founder and CEO.

"This round of funding will allow the company to put the SuperTurbo through the rigorous durability testing required by the trucking industry."
