Thursday May 30, 2013 0 commentsBOULDER - SparkFun Electronics will host the fifth annual Autonomous Vehicle Competition on June 8 at Boulder Reservoir.
Each year, the AVC invites teams from all over the world to take part in a race of home-built ground and aerial vehicles. SparkFun said this is the first year the event will not be held at its Boulder headquarters because it has outgrown the company's space.
The new location opens up the competition to new obstacles and course layouts, SparkFun said, which should provide an even more competitive and entertaining event.
The AVC is SparkFun's signature event, which celebrates ingenuity, inventiveness and good-natured robotic competition, the company said.
This year's event includes a record-breaking 87 registered teams and is shaping up to be the largest race in its five-year history.
"The AVC is a great event because it invites our customer and other fans of robotics to try their hand at building an autonomous vehicle on their own," said Chris Taylor, SparkFun's engineering project manager.
The family-friendly event is free and includes local food vendors and other entertainment.
