DENVER - The Colorado Technology Association and Colorado Sen. Michael Bennet will host an information session Dec. 6 on proposed new crowdfunding rules by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

The session is free and open to the public and will be held from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the Colorado State University Denver Center Event Atrium, 475 17th St., Suite 200.

The session will include remarks by Bennet and an overview of crowdfunding rules by Douglas S. Ellenoff, followed by a panel discussion of the rules moderated by Brad Bernthal.

On Oct. 23, the SEC voted unanimously to issue proposed rules for comments that would allow businesses to use crowdfunding methods to raise capital from main street investors.

The new rules are based on the CROWDFUND Act, co-authored by Bennet.
