DENVER - Novinda Corp., a leader in non-carbon mercury removal technologies, announced that its flagship product - Amended Silicates HgX - received the Technology Merit Award for Air Quality products from the Environmental Business Journal's 2013 Business Achievement Award competition.
Novinda's AS HgX is an economical and environmentally-friendly non-carbon reagent that removes mercury from coal-fired power plant emissions, enabling utilities to comply with the EPA's strict Mercury and Air Toxic Standards.
AS HgX is a mineral-based product that removes mercury via a chemical reaction, delivering economic and environmental advantages not available from competing products, Novinda said.
As a non-carbon product, AS HgX leaves fly ash pristine for reuse in making concrete, eliminating landfill burial of millions of tons of fly ash annually and providing utilities with substantial savings and a valuable revenue stream, the company said.
"We are honored to be selected as a 2013 Technology Merit Award winner," said Ed Williams, Novinda's CEO. "This distinction is an acknowledgement of the environmental and economic advantages of AS HgX and a tribute to the people here who have worked so hard to bring this product to market."
