Friday January 24, 2014 0 commentsGREELEY - Five finalists chosen from the University of Northern Colorado Monfort College of Business Entrepreneurial Challenge preliminary competition held Jan. 15 will make their funding pitches March 29 during the final phase of the competition.
The five finalists will compete for $50,000 in prize money at the fifth annual challenge, which will be held in the studios of 9News (KTVD Channel 20) in Denver.
"More than 30 entrepreneurs submitted business concepts in this year's competition, with 18 competing in last week's semifinals," said David Thomas, assistant professor of management and director of the event.
"The business concepts were diverse, well-presented and very impressive. The competition is truly serving as a real business initiative in Northern Colorado."
The five finalists are:
- IX Powerclean Water
- Omirown Entrtainment LLC
- Tabrific LLC
The five finalists will present their business plans in a "Shark Tank" format at 9News, which will broadcast the event on 9News.com. An edited TV program will be broadcast at 9:30 p.m. on March 29.
Gregg Moss, 9News business reporter, will emcee the event.
In addition to prize money, the top three winners will receive business incubator services from UNC BizHub, a new business incubator at UNC.
Judges for the event include Dick Monfort, owner and CEO of the Colorado Rockies; Brad Cheedle, president and CEO of Stealth Advisory services International; and Chris Onan, co-founder and managing director of Galvanize.
