LOVELAND - Lightning Hybrids will partner with National Fleet Hybrids to have the Massachusetts-based company sell, install and distribute Lightning's hybrid retrofit systems, the two companies announced.
Until now, Lightning Hybrids has focused its sales in the local region, but the partnership will provide access to fleets in New England and the Mid-Atlantic regions.
Lightning Hybrids manufactures its hydraulic hybrid drive systems in Loveland. The systems are designed to save fleets of shuttle buses and other medium-duty vehicles millions of dollars a year in fuel costs by increasing mileage up to 40 percent.
"This partnership with National Fleet Hybrids brings our efficient technology to an area of the U.S. with millions of trucks and buses in fleets that need to save fuel and cut emissions," said Tim Reeser, Lightning's co-founder and president.
"National Fleet hybrids is known for their expertise in the fleet market and we're excited to have that vote of confidence in our product."
"The No. 1 concern we hear from all commercial vehicle operators is how to manage fuel costs," said Glen Perlman, National's president.
"The Lightning Hybrids system will provide up to a 40 percent increase in fuel economy and up too an 80 percent brake savings. The system literally pays for itself in a short period of time."
