Wednesday May 30, 2012 0 commentsLITTLETON - Infinite Power Solutions, a developer and manufacturer of high-performance, solid-state, rechargeable thin-film batteries, announced it has successfully demonstrated a new battery technology to replace conventional lithium-ion batteries.
The new technology is projected to redefine the design of smart phones, tablets and other consumer devices by enabling thinner form factors and better performance, the company said.
IPS said it has initiated talks with original equipment manufacturers for future adoption of the technology in consumer devices.
"Today, smart phones are limited by and, to a degree, designed around the battery," said Jim Norrod, IPS president and CEO. "With this new technology, we are moving toward designing the battery around the phone, thereby impacting how smart phones and other devices look and perform, as well as which companies win and lose market share in the future.
"In our view, this is a game changer in the mobile electronics landscape and especially the smart phone market, where styling and performance are paramount to market success," Narrod said.
