"Customers are already using tablets while watching TV but, until Explorer, it has been two separate experiences," said Vivek Khemka, DISH VP of product management.

"What we've done is develop an integrated, seamless experience between the tablet and the television. Only the Hopper creates an entirely new viewing dynamic."

The Hopper is DISH's commercial-skipping feature released last year.

More than 150,000 visitors are expected at the 2013 CES show.
