GREELEY - The deadline has been extended for aspiring entrepreneurs to compete for $50,000 being offered in the fourth annual Monfort College of Business Entrepreneurial Challenge.
The deadline for entries is now Nov. 30, according to David Thomas, assistant professor of management at the college on the University of Northern Colorado campus.
This year's event offers $25,000 for first place, $15,000 for second place and $10,000 for third place.
The competition is open to Colorado-based startup ventures.
"By startup venture, we mean anyone who has an idea for a new business based in Colorado is eligible," Thomas said. "They must have begun or be ready to begin business development, market research and product development but must not have received payment for the sale of product or services yet."

Successful applicants will be selected by Dec. 7 to participate as semi-finalists in the Preliminary Challenge, where they will present their concepts to a panel of experts.
The Preliminary Challenge will take place Jan. 16 at the University of Northern Colorado Center at Centerra in Loveland.
Five finalists will be selected to present their business plans in a "Shark Tank" format during the Monfort Entrepreneurial Challenge on March 7 at the University Center on the UNC campus.
The event is open to the public and winners will be announced that night at the Bravo! Entrepreneur Awards presented by the Northern Colorado Business Report and sponsored by the Monfort College of Business.
