Vestas announces third new U.S. wind turbine order in less than a week

PORTLAND, Ore. - Vestas has announced its third order for new wind turbines in the U.S. within the last week, with parts to again be produced at its Colorado manufacturing facilities.

Vestas said it received a 150 MW order from Boston-based First Wind and will deliver 75 V110-2.0 MW turbines to a wind-energy project near Amarillo, Tex. Deliveries are expected to occur in early 2015 with commissioning in mid-2015.

On Dec. 20, Vestas announced it had received a 220 MW order for two projects in the Texas panhandle. On Dec. 18, the company announced a 350 MW order for a wind power plant in Oklahoma.

Vestas said it is adding more workers at its blade factory in Windsor and its blade and nacelle factories in Brighton.
