UQM logoLONGMONT - UQM Technologies Inc. (NYSE MKT: UQM) announced South Carolina-based Proterra set a record for the most miles traveled in one day by a battery-electric transit bus using UQM's PowerPhase HD electric propulsion system.

UQM said Proterra, a manufacturer of clean technology buses, recently tested a production bus that traveled more than 700 miles in 24 hours and achieved nearly 27 MPGe, the comparison standard for measuring alternative vehicles against gas-powered vehicles.

Proterra said the MPGe achieved by its bus was nearly 6 times better than a diesel-powered bus and 7 times better than a CNG-powered bus.

"This achievement by Proterra demonstrates the efficiency of UQM propulsion systems in all-electric buses, as well as the durability," said Eric R. Ridenour, UQM's president and CEO.

"Proterra continues to grow their presence in the marketplace, with buses now running in six major U.S. markets with more on the way - all exclusively powered by our electric propulsion system, providing efficient and reliable public transportation."
