UQM electric motor and controller system helps yacht set new European marine speed record

UQM logoLONGMONT - UQM Technologies Inc. (NYSE MKT: UQM) announced that its PowerPhase 100kW electric motor and controller system recently provided the power to a yacht that set a European speed record.

UQM said the yacht maintained an average speed of 32.9 knots (60.9 kilometers per hour) with two adult passengers over a measured mile.

UQM said the speed record was certified by the Croatian Registry of Shipping.

"Our electric motors and controllers have set the bar in multiple industries and now we are helping ReGen Nautics and their customers set records and expand marine applications to gain a new level of market acceptance," said Eric R. Ridenour, UQM president and CEO.

ReGen Nautics USA works with manufacturers, federal and state agencies and commercial operators to engineer hybrid-electric solutions for the marine market.
