BOULDER - juwi Wind LLC has completed construction of the 30-MW Community Wind South Project in Nobles County, MN, the company announced.
The project will serve about 10,000 homes in the region and energy is being sold to Xcel Energy under a 20-year power-purchase agreement.
The project has been in development since 2003 and has received strong backing and support from the community, juwi said.
About $67 million has been invested to build 15 Repower MM92 two-megawatt turbines. Each turbine is 480 feet tall, making them the tallest in the state.
"juwi Wind is excited that the Community Wind South Project is now fully operational," said Michael Rucker, juwi Wind CEO. "We are proud of the partnerships we developed with the community and corporate sponsors and are thankful for the broad support the project received."
Juwi will manage the day-to-day operations of the project. Juwi Wind is a subsidiary of the juwi Group, an international developer of renewable energy projects.
