Six months old and just getting started

It's hard to believe InnovatioNews.com is already six months old.

Yes, we turned six months old on Dec. 1 and we're rapidly moving into our seventh month as a go-to source for what's happening in Colorado's ever-changing and exciting innovation landscape.

We're happy and proud that we've made it this far, but we couldn't have done it without the support of our initial sponsors: the cities of Fort Collins and Loveland, Northern Colorado Economic Development Corp. and the Fort Collins Chamber of Commerce.

We're about to announce some new sponsors to add to those who see our role as a promoter of new tech-related startups and innovative new products and services, whatever their source.

Those announcements will be made soon.

Meantime, we're doing all we can to help companies, communities and the state get the word out about the good news about innovation - innovation that will bring good jobs, economic activity and a better future for Colorado and its citizens.

In our first six months, we've hit some amazing milestones: More than 600 stories about technology, bioscience, cleantech, energy, water, green practices, new products and the background stories of the people and companies out there making it all happen.

Our Google analytics also tell us we're doing something right: More than 10,000 unique visitors to our site from all over the U.S. and the world. Many of them are spending several minutes during each visit as they read the latest innovation news.

In the months ahead, we plan to provide more statewide coverage, adding correspondents in the Denver-Boulder area, Colorado Springs and elsewhere.

We started InnovatioNews.com in Northern Colorado - where innovation is exploding - and will keep writing about the stories happening in our own backyard.

But we also want to be considered a credible, statewide news source, and will do our best to spread our story net as wide as possible.

Please consider signing up for our daily and weekly InnovatioNews email newsletters. And please feel free to comment on our stories so we know how we're doing and what we might be missing.

Story ideas are always welcome, and we encourage you to send us your news releases about what's happening in your particular corner of the state.

We look forward to the second half of our first year, and wish you all Happy Holidays and a wonderful 2013.
