BOULDER - FreeWave Technologies announced its Spartan Series of wireless radios for the government and defense markets, incorporating the most advanced implementation of FIPS 140-2 encryption technology for secure, long-range communications in the industry.
FreeWave's Spartan solution is designed to provide a highly secure communications link for a variety of government and defense applications, including command-and-control of unmanned systems, the company said.
The new product was unveiled this week at the AUVSI Unmanned Systems North American event in Las Vegas.
"FreeWave is helping its government and defense customers overcome security challenges for mission-critical applications where failure is not an option," said Phil Linker, FreeWave's government and defense product manager.
"Based on our proven wireless communications platform, the new Spartan Series will provide a highly sophisticated and unique encryption technology. This will enable a very high level of trusted security for mission-critical applications, such as the command-and-control of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles and other unmanned systems," Linker said.
The Spartan solution is pending Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 140-2 Level 2 certification expected in the near future, the company said.
