DENVER -- ViaWest, a leading provider of Hybrid IT and data center solutions in North America, announced President and CEO Nancy Phillips was named the winner of the EY Entrepreneur of the Year® 2016 Award in the Mountain Desert Region in the technology services category.
The awards program recognizes entrepreneurs who demonstrate excellence and extraordinary success in such areas as innovation, financial performance and personal commitment to their businesses and communities.
Phillips received the award during the EY Awards special gala event in Denver and was selected by a panel of independent judges.
“I’m humbled to be named an Entrepreneur of the Year, which would not have been possible without my team at ViaWest, all of whom are equally passionate about helping our clients succeed and enriching the communities around them,” said Phillips.
“I’m proud to accept this award on behalf of everyone at ViaWest and honored to be alongside the many other admirable and innovative entrepreneurs making the Mountain Desert Region a great place to work and live.”
A 30-year veteran of the telecommunications and infrastructure industry, Phillips spent her career building service-focused organizations, driving significant growth while maintaining a deep client-centric focus.
She co-founded ViaWest in 1999.
Her commitment to community and entrepreneurship is illustrated by her involvement in many professional and philanthropic organizations. Phillips serves on the board of the National Center for Women and Information Technology (NCWIT), where she is also the vice chair; the Colorado Technology Association (CTA); Startup Colorado; the Blackstone Entrepreneurs Network and the National Cyber Intelligence Center (NCIC).
An innovative leader, proven entrepreneur and seasoned executive, Phillips is active in the Colorado startup and entrepreneurial communities as an angel investor, mentor and advisor.
Prior to ViaWest, she held founder and senior-level positions with numerous technology companies, including TSC, ConferTech International, ITC, RMI.net and Intrepid Communications.
“EY has had a tremendous history in honoring outstanding entrepreneurs over the past 30 years,” said Jim Wilson, EY Entrepreneur of the Year program director for the Mountain Desert region.
“This year’s winners have not only taken their companies to the top, but they have also acted as mentors to their employees and made impressive contributions to their communities.”
