LONGMONT -- UQM Technologies Inc. (NYSE MKT: UQM) announced its board of directors has appointed Joseph Mitchell as the company’s president and CEO.
Mitchell has been interim CEO and president since July 21, joining the company three years ago as VP of operations. He has more than 25 years of experience in the automotive industry, with more than 15 in the development and production of electric powertrains and vehicle electrification.
“After conducting an appropriate search, the board firmly believes that Mr. Mitchell is the right person for this job,” said Donald Vanlandingham, UQM’s board chair.
“We believe his vision and experience are the right combination to drive the company forward. We are extremely pleased that Joe has accepted the position of president and chief executive officer and the board is looking forward to working with him in his new capacity.”

Mitchell most recently served as director of operations and quality for Continental Automotive’s North American Hybrid and Electric Drive business unit, where he led all North American manufacturing, advanced manufacturing strategy, planning and global sourcing for the hybrid electric-drive business unit.
