LONGMONT -- Temple Grandin, internationally acclaimed Colorado State University scientist and author, will speak at the Rocky Mountain STEAM Fest in Longmont on Sept. 6.
Grandin, who was the subject of an award-winning HBO movie and who has written several books and developed new innovations for cattle processing, will speak at 2 p.m. at the Boulder County Fairgrounds in Longmont,.
“I want to experience the wonder of hands-on learning at STEAM Fest,” Grandin said. “It’s so important that we continue to shift education, at all levels, to more interactive lessons, where people are engaging with real-world materials and solving real-world challenges.”
The Rocky Mountain STEAM Fest is a two-day, family-friendly event celebrating science, technology, entrepreneurship, art and making.
“Grandin’s story is proof-positive that extraordinary things happen when learners have the opportunity to experience curriculum through roll-up-your-sleeves-and-get-dirty experiments, problem-solving and prototyping, and you’ll see all that at STEAM Fest,” said organizer Martha Lanaghen.
