BOULDER -- The Rocky Mountain STEAM Fest   will be held this weekend, Sept. 5-6, at the Boulder County Fairgrounds in Longmont.STEAM_Fest_logoUSE

The event is being organized by, which also presented the Boulder Maker Faire last year.

“From the minute you walk in the door you’ll know this is different,” said Mary Anne Zacek, co-founder of and one of STEAM Fest’s presenting sponsors.

“You won’t stroll by these booths, you’ll roll your sleeves up and sit down and play, or tinker or hack.”

The family-friendly event will feature more than 100 exhibits with hands-on activities in science, technology, entrepreneurship, art and making (STEAM).

Zacek said every booth will offer some hands-on activity – a problem to solve, an obstacle course to complete, something to draw or a rocket to launch -- as examples.

Speakers at STEAM Fest will include Dr. Temple Grandin, a CSU professor known for her groundbreaking work in animal treatment in the food industry, and Cathy Olkin, a planetary scientist who took part in the recent Horizons Mission flyby of Pluto.
