BOULDER -- On Aug. 4, U.S. Rep. Jared Polis (D-Colo.) will welcome U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker to Colorado for Startup Day Across AmericaStartup_Day_logoUSE

Four years ago, Polis launched Startup Day Across America along with Rep. Darrell Issa (R-California) as founders of the Congressional Caucus on Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

The nationwide day is intended to raise awareness of entrepreneurial activity and discuss how federal policy can help entrepreneurs test ideas, create new products, and grow their businesses.

“Startup Day provides members of Congress with a forum to meet with local entrepreneurs who are working day in and day out to make their ideas become a reality,” said Polis.

“We need to promote policies that encourage ingenuity and remove barriers that hinder success. As we move further into the 21st century, our economic vitality depends on our ability to provide a healthy environment for innovators who are on the verge of unlocking the next great idea.”

Polis will take part in several events during the day, starting with a tour of Ridekick in Fort Collins at 9:30 a.m.

Other events are set for Loveland and Boulder, with a startup showcase in Boulder at Blacklab Sports at 2:30 p.m., which U.S. Commerce Secretary Penny Pritzker is scheduled to attend.
