FORT COLLINS -- Colorado research institutions including Colorado State University continue to roll out innovative discoveries with real-world products, but often investment capital is hard to come by to get a startup company off the ground.CSU_logoUSE_1

Helping to bridge that gap by drawing investors to Colorado is “Destination Startup”, a showcase of the state’s best technologies from Colorado’s innovation ecosystem. The event will be hosted by University of Colorado Boulder.

Twenty-five of the best startups from Colorado’s leading research institutions and laboratories will present to investors and the business community on Feb. 1 at the Omni Hotel in Broomfield.

Participating institutions include CSU, CU Boulder, CU Anschutz, CU Colorado Springs and the University of Denver.

CSU Ventures, the technology transfer office for CSU, announced the following five CSU startup companies that will present at the showcase: Access Sensor Technologies, OptiEnz Sensors, PhotonPharma, Prietoo Battery and VetMeasure.

The hand-picked startups went through a competitive selection process and represent disciplines on campus including veterinary medicine, chemistry and engineering.

“The research and innovation coming out of CSU continues to be impressive and bringing new investment funding possibilities to Colorado benefits the entrepreneurial community as a whole,” said Terry Opgenorth, VP and director of Launchpad at CSU Ventures.

“This event just reaffirms the commitment Colorado has to the innovative ecosystem.”
