Ecotech: 1.2 million clean jobs available in Q1 2015, Colorado No. 4 for jobs per 100,000 residents

AURORA -- Ecotech Institute’s Clean Jobs Index reported more than 1 million green energy job postings across the U.S. in the first quarter of 2015, with Colorado placing No. 4 on the list of states with most clean jobs per 100K residents.
According to the report, based on Bureau of Labor Statistics definitions, there were a total of 1.2 million clean job postings during the first quarter.
The top three states with the most clean jobs openings were California, Texas and New York.
The top five states with the biggest increase in clean jobs postings compared to the same quarter in 2014 were Rhode Island, New York, Texas, North Carolina and Maryland.
States with the most clean jobs per 100,000 people were:
- North Dakota
- Iowa
- Rhode island
- Colorado
- Wyoming
- Idaho
- Illinois
- Ohio
- Indiana
- South Dakota
“As more businesses look for ways to conserve energy and renewables continue to gain traction, more jobs are becoming available,” said Chris Gorrie, Ecotech Institute president.
“States have come to see clean energy sources as an important piece of infrastructure, opening the door to great opportunities in renewable energy.”
