PORTLAND, Ore. -- A new report from Portland-based Clean Edge, a cleantech research and indexing firm, shows Colorado placing No. 4 on the Top 10 list of states in its annual U.S. Clean Tech Leadership Index.
Colorado held onto the same position it occupied in last year’s Index, Clean Edge said.
Meanwhile, Denver dropped from No. 10 to No. 11 on the list of the 50 largest metro areas on the Index.
The Index tracks and ranks the cleantech activities of all 50 states, including electric vehicles, renewables adoption and patent and investment activity.

The objective of the Index is to serve as a tool for regional comparative research, be a source for aggregated industry data and be a jumping-off point for deep, data-driven analysis of the U.S. cleantech market, Clean Edge said.
