NerdWallet rates Boulder No. 2 on list of Top 100 'Best Places for Women-Owned Biz'

NerdWallet logoBOULDER - Boulder was rated No.2 on NerdWallet's just released list of the Top 100 "Best Places for Women-Owned Businesses."

The NerdWallet study rated cities and metro areas on the percent of women-owned businesses, the overall business climate and local economic health.

The study noted Boulder's high quality of life for entrepreneurs and strong economy, with a 3 percent unemployment rate that was the lowest in the study's Top 20.

Also noted was the city of Boulder's microloan program that offers up to $50,000 to businesses with annual revenues of less than $2 million.

The study found Boulder businesses are 30.2 percent owned by women with a median income for women of $47,427.

The NerdWallet Top 10 list included:

·      No. 1--Santa Fe

·      No. 2--Boulder

·      No. 3--Monroe, Mich.

·       No. 4--Racine, Wis.

·      No. 5--Ocean City, NJ

·      No. 6--Napa

·      No. 7--Washington, D.C.

·      No. 8--Barnstable Town, Mass.

·      No. 9--San Francisco

·      No. 10--Lancaster, PA

Denver was ranked No. 13 on the list, Fort Collins ranked No. 19, Colorado Springs came in at No. 27 and Grand Junction was No. 67 on the list.

In a previous Nerdwallet list of "Best Cities for Female Entrepreneurs" released in February, Denver ranked No. 7.
