DENVER -- EY is calling for nominations for the 29th Annual EY Entrepreneur of The Year Awards, recognized as one of the most prestigious business award programs in the nation.
Each year, EY showcases successful entrepreneurs from more than 145 cities in 60 countries. In 2014, 25 entrepreneurs leading companies from the Mountain Desert region, which includes Colorado, Arizona and New Mexico, were selected as EY Entrepreneur of The Year Award finalists.
Select past award winners from Colorado include Dan Burns and Dan Wilson of Accuvant, Inc; Mike Fries of Liberty Global; Dan Caruso of Zayo Group; Stephen Hughes of Boulder Brands; Kristy Taddonio Mullins of Mile Hi; and Scott Drake of The Spectranetics Corporation.
"For almost 30 years, we have had the privilege of getting to know many high impact entrepreneurs through our Entrepreneur of The Year Program," said Mike Kacsmar, Americas Director, EY Entrepreneur of The Year. "The entrepreneurs we have honored lead highly disruptive companies in their industries and create a lion's share of new job creation in the economy."
Award winners are selected in a number of industry categories by a panel of independent regional judges, including previous winners of the award, leading CEOs and private capital investors and other regional business leaders. Entrepreneurs may nominate themselves or be nominated by peers and other business leaders.
"We have an incredible entrepreneurial ecosystem that encourages pioneering leaders to thrive as they build new ventures, while also motivating established companies to bring forth innovative ideas to fuel our economic growth," said Jim Wilson, Mountain Desert Director, EY Entrepreneur of The Year.
The program has a deadline of Friday, March 6, for nominations, with the Mountain Desert awards ceremony scheduled for June 25 at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts.
The Entrepreneur of The Year Program honors entrepreneurs regionally in June. All regional honorees are then invited to the Entrepreneur of The Year National gala on Nov. 14 in Palm Springs, Calif. The gala is the culminating event of the EY Strategic Growth Forum®, the nation's most prestigious gathering of high-growth, market-leading companies.

Additionally, the nominee's company must be at least two years old. Self-nominations are encouraged and there is no fee.
