BOULDER -- Yonomi today announced a major expansion of its IoT platform with the launch of Yonomi Thin Cloud, a service that helps connected device makers get to market quickly with a secure, ultra-scalable Cloud framework.
Yonomi said the Thin Cloud offers unparalleled flexibility with the option to either purchase the Yonomi Thin Cloud source code or to deploy Yonomi Thin Cloud as a Platform-as-a-Service with continuous updates, enhancements, management and monitoring.
Yonomi said the lightweight platform is an obvious choice for newer device manufacturers, but the scalability, security and fixed cost have attracted major connected device manufacturers, including smart lock manufacturer and Allegion brand Schlage, who is now deploying Yonomi Thin Cloud to support millions of devices.
"We spun out some of the core pieces of the Yonomi consumer platform into a very thin, lightweight framework that is super flexible and offers device makers an efficient, scalable and secure solution for getting to market quickly," said Kent Dickson, Yonomi co-founder and CEO.
"In addition to innovating on the architecture side, we also rethought the whole business model to make Yonomi Thin Cloud an easy choice. It's far more affordable than developing your own solution, and there's no lock-in. The Thin Cloud cost is fixed, so there's no 'success tax' when your product becomes widely used."
Thin Cloud deploys to Amazon Web Services and is optimized to efficiently consume resources allowing vendors to minimize their ongoing costs, the company said.
Allegion recently made an equity investment in Yonomi to help accelerate the platform's integration with key devices in the connected space. Yonomi said the funding will also be utilized to help scale Yonomi's enterprise services for device makers and recruit additional talent.
With this investment, Allegion Futurist and VP of Strategy and Partnerships Rob Martens joins Yonomi's board of directors.
"As an IoT thought leader, Allegion drives connected device integration in both residential and non-residential security markets," said Martens.
"We form strategic alliances with others who embrace the IoT as we do, furthering our capabilities and pushing innovation in our industry.
“This new alliance with Yonomi is a perfect example. We're impressed by the flexible IoT solutions Yonomi offers to manufacturers as well as end consumers and look forward to using this technology to give our customers smarter security experiences."
