DALLAS -- As one of the largest direct-selling companies in the global energy market, Stream Energy (now Stream) provides energy to customers all over the USA.

Over the last 13 years, the Dallas-based company has expanded from Texas to eight other states, with Ohio being the latest. Stream Energy provides homes and businesses with three forms of energy: electric, natural gas and clean energy.

It offers a variety of affordable energy plans to suit a customer’s lifestyle and budget.

Following a study that measured 52 retail electric providers (REPs) in Texas, Stream Energy was recognized by Market Strategies International as one of the top 10 most trusted Texas retail electric providers.

Having surveyed 5,881 customers, each scored 52 REPs based on nine unique factors.

These factors included community support, competitive rates, communications effectiveness, environmental dedication, local reputation, customer focus, reliable quality, enhanced offerings and billing and customer service.

The outcomes of the survey were published in the Cogent Reports™ 2017 Texas Retail Electric Provider Brand Trust study. The survey’s results indicated that brand trust is impacted by customer-focused community activities.

“The bottom line is Texans want their retailer to support them and their community during this time of need and REPs who answer that call will be rewarded with greater customer trust and long-term business success," said Chris Oberle, senior vice president at Market Strategies.

Stream Energy made huge strides supporting the community in Texas after Hurricane Harvey. After the hurricane caused torrential flooding in Texas, the company stepped in to support the community that was impacted by the tropical storm.

The hurricane forced an estimated 30,000 people from their homes and caused over 300,000 power outages over the weekend. It also, unfortunately, took several lives.

Stream Cares, the philanthropic division of Stream Energy, donated $25,000 to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. Additionally, Stream Energy also collected donations, including food and other supplies, to aid the relief effort.

For Stream Energy, being named in the top 10 most trusted retail electric providers was a great achievement.

"We are honored to be recognized for something that comes so naturally to our company and our culture," said Stream President and CEO Larry Mondry.

"Our team will work hard every day to prove to our customers that we are worthy of this recognition, and to be the best REP with the best value and service in the industry."

Being one of the most trusted retail electric providers, Stream Energy constantly aims to keep its customers connected in the most affordable way.

In an exciting move, the company has expanded its array of energy plans. The announcement was made at the company’s recent national conference, Stream Ignition, which took place in Fort Worth, Texas, in 2018.

One plan that was announced was Budget Power Plan. Customers enrolled in the Budget Power Plan will not pay a variable-rate energy bill each month, which changes every month and does not offer customers price security.

Instead, the Budget Power Plan allows customers to pay the same amount for their energy bill every month, a fixed-rate price rather than a variable.

Choosing the perfect plan

With Stream Energy’s Budget Power Plan, customers have an opportunity to say goodbye to unpredictable energy bills. Pricing for this plan depends on how much electricity the customers use.

To figure this out, customers can simply follow these three steps:

  1. Review their 12-month usage history – This can simply be done by customers reviewing their electricity bills from the last year.
  2. Find their average usage – By adding up their electricity usage for the last 12 month and divided it by 12, the customer can get their average usage per month.
  3. Select the price closest to their yearly average – Once the customer knows what their average monthly usage is, they can select the pricing bracket closest to their yearly average. The pricing bracket for Oncor customers is broken down in the following way:
  • $50 per month for 500 KWh per month
  • $85 per month for 1000 KWh per month
  • $128 per month for 1500 KWh per month
  • $170 per month for 2000 KWh per month
  • $215 per month for 2500 KWh per month

The benefits of Budget Power Plan

Besides being easy to set up and since all customers need to know is their average monthly usage, there are many benefits to the Budget Power Plan.

One of the main benefits of the new plan is that customers pay the same amount every month. This allows them to budget without the worry of not knowing how much their bill will be.

To ensure that customers stay within their chosen plan, a weekly energy report and usage alert helps customers keep track. These alerts and reports are sent via email.

Another benefit is that customers can change their chosen plan at any time for free. If a certain pricing bracket is not working for the customer, there is no extra charge for switching their plan to either a higher or lower pricing bracket.

Changes can be made at any time only be made at the end of the billing cycle and go into effect at the beginning of the next full billing cycle.

Like most of Stream Energy’s electricity services, this plan requires a 12-month contract. Unfortunately, this plan is currently only available in the state of Texas. However, the pricing of this plan has some of the lowest rates in the state.

Overall, the Budget Power Plan provides Stream Energy customers with a way to get their electricity at a price that they prefer and can budget for.
