COLORADO -- The PwC MoneyTree Report for Q3 2018 ranks Colorado No. 4 on the list of Top 10 U.S. states for venture capital-backed deals during the quarter.
The report said Colorado had 48 VC deals close during the July-September period, totaling $419 million.
California had by far the highest number of deals in Q3 with 477.
For the whole U.S., VC-backed companies raised nearly $28 billion. That total was up by 17 percent over the previous quarter on 1,229 deals.
The quarter also saw a record number of unicorn companies -- those valued at $1 billion or more -- with 119.
According to the report, the Top 10 states for deals in Q3 were:
- California, 477 deals
- New York, 153
- Massachusetts, 114
- Colorado, 48
- Washington, 43
- Texas, 42
- Illinois, 32
- Florida, 29
- Pennsylvania, 23
- Maryland, 21
