LONDON -- Colorado ranked No. 6 on the MoneyTree Report for the most U.S.-based venture capital funded deals in the second quarter of 2018.
Colorado reported 41 deals in the PwC/CB Insights MoneyTree Report during the second quarter, raising $448 million.
According to the report, the top 10 states for Q2 2018 deals were:
- California – 586
- New York – 189
- Massachusetts – 113
- Texas – 68
- Washington – 51
- Colorado – 41
- Illinois – 30
- Pennsylvania – 28
- Virginia – 25
- Florida – 24
Colorado was also No. 4 on MoneyTree’s list of most cybersecurity deals during the quarter with 4, raising $16 million.
For the U.S. as a whole, the top five sectors receiving funding were:
- Mobile and telecommunications
- Consumer products and services.
The U.S. hit records for number of deals, dollars raised and mega-rounds during the quarter, April through June.
The report noted there were 45 mega-rounds of $100 million or more.
Funding to artificial intelligence companies rose 21 percent over the previous quarter to $2.3 billion.
Dollars for VC-backed companies was up 2 percent over the previous quarter with a record $23 billion invested in 1,416 deals nationwide.
