WASHINGTON, D.C. -- NerdWallet has ranked Boulder No. 3 in the nation on its list of the “Best Places for STEM Graduates” to find employment.
“The Boulder metro area features one of the most prominent STEM job markets in the country, thanks to growth in its technology and aerospace industries,” NerdWallet said, noting that about 140 of every 1,000jobs are in a STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) occupation.
The NerdWallet report also noted the presence of the University of Colorado-Boulder as home to a Center for STEM Learning that focuses on improving STEM education for students and the local community.
The Fort Collins-Loveland metro area placed No. 18 on the NerdWallet list and the Denver-Aurora-Broomfield metro area placed No. 19.
NerdWallet said it looked at the 354 largest U.S. metro areas in assembling its list. The biggest ranking factors were STEM employees per 1,000 jobs, annual mean wage for STEM jobs and median gross rent.
The Top 10 metros on the list were:

- San Jose-Sunnyvale-Santa Clara (Silicon Valley)
- Durham-Chapel Hill
- Kennewick-Pasco-Richland, WA
- San Francisco-San Mateo-Redwood City
- Houston-Sugar Land-Baytown
- Palm Bay-Melbourne-Titusville, FLA
